Dyslexia

As part of the Dyslexia programme, the dyslexia screening provides an individual assessment that gives a detailed overview of a pupil’s difficulties. This is used to create a programme that is suitable to support areas of difficulties. We also offer personalised and individual teaching of:

  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Phonics/spelling
  • Structured, systematic and small steps
  • Multisensory teaching approach with overlearning

KS1 & KS2 SATS English preparation

Initial assessment and baseline assessments are used to develop a personalised tutoring session. The sessions are developed in line with the new National Curriculum and we provide valuable resources to help students prepare and practice for KS 1 and KS 2 National tests (SATs). The English practice preparation session covers:

  • reading
  • grammar
  • punctuation
  • spelling
  • completing English practice test papers

KS1 to KS3 English curriculum

Our Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 3 English course prepares students with a strong command of the spoken as well as written word and to develop their love of literature through widespread reading for enjoyment. These sessions are developed in line with the national curriculum for English:

  • to enable learners read easily, fluently and with good understanding
  • develop the habit of reading widely and often, for both pleasure and information
  • acquire a wide vocabulary
  • an understanding of grammar
  • knowledge of linguistic conventions for reading, writing and spoken language

GCSE English curriculum

English Language tutoring programme prepares pupils in different skills in the specification for the GCSE Language Exam such as:

  • analysing fiction texts
  • analysing non-fiction texts
  • comparing texts
  • writing
  • spelling
  • punctuation
  • grammar
  • spoken language

The English Literature tutoring programme in line with the exam board specification prepare students on how to tackle :

  • the Shakespeare text
  • post 1914 prose/drama texts
  • 19th century prose
  • poetry

Adult literacy support Entry Level 1 to Level 2

This will programme supports adult taking Functional Skills at Entry Level 1-3 to Level 2 qualifications. This will help you develop the basic skills you need to operate:

  • confidently
  • effectively
  • independent in education
  • work
  • everyday life

SEND

Our SEND programme meets the needs and support learners with Autistic Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Speech, Language or Communication Needs, Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs who have literacy difficulties.

We use different resources and teaching strategies appropriate for learners with different learning needs such as:

  • tactile
  • kinesthetic methods for spelling
  • ICT
  • games
  • visual mnemonics
